Receiving a visit – what can you expect?
If you live in one of the areas mentioned above, you may receive a visit from one of our People Connectors. Our People Connectors are trained in linking members of the community with relevant support services.
Our team members may ask whether you or anyone in your household struggles with mental health issues, or suffers from poor emotional wellbeing. These questions are not meant to be invasive, but rather help us suggest services that may be beneficial to you. Approximately 75% of Australians with a mental illness do not receive adequate support. The goal of the ACDC project is to bring this number down by supplying people with helpful and relevant information.
Who to Contact for Help
Local Support Services
1300 MH Call
The Metro South community can access local mental health services for information and assistance in times of mental health crisis 24 hours a day via this centralised phone number.
NDIS Local Area Coordination
The Enquiry Line will support participants in connecting with their Local Area Coordinator and resolving concerns, answer NDIS queries, provide information to people with disabilities and their families, and is one of the first points of contact for community enquiries.
National Support Services
Give Beyond Blue a call any time of the day or night – select from the voice menu or simply hold on the line to talk with a trained mental health professional.
Beyond Blue offer brief support, provide information and advice, and point you in the right direction so you can get the help you need for the cost of a local call (could be more from mobiles).

SANE Australia Forums
In tough times it’s important to be heard. SANE Australia’s free counselling service supports people affected by complex mental health issues. They also talk to friends, family members and health professionals about their concerns.
Counsellors are available via phone, web chat or email from 10am to 10pm Monday to Friday AEST/AEDT.
There is no shame in yarning about our mental health. If you have a lot of worries, feel sad, stressed, or have jumbled thoughts – it can help to have a yarn with family, someone you trust or an Aboriginal Health Worker at the local clinic. Find resources on the WellMob website on ways to support mental health.
