MEET PERTH PEOPLE CONNECTORS – Bec & Rebecca

Why did you want to be a People Connector with the ACDC Project?

Bec: I wanted to be a People Connector to have the opportunity to hear people’s stories and experiences using community services.

Rebecca: I wanted to be a People Connector so I could engage with householders in Beechboro and Ballajura and assist people with accessing services in the community.

How have you found door-knocking in Beechboro/Ballajura so far?

Bec: Door knocking has been an exciting and rewarding experience in Beechboro so far. I have loved hearing people’s stories.

Rebecca: Door-knocking has been an exciting and enriching experience so far. Householders have been really friendly, kind and each person has a unique and important view about what is great in the community and what could be improved.

What is one of the best things about your job as a People Connector?

Bec: My favourite part has been seeing how important connection is to community wellbeing, whether it be with pets, community members or neighbours.

Rebecca: The best thing about my job as a People Connector is talking with householders and hearing their life journey with the understanding that mental health and wellbeing is about every aspect of a person’s life.

How do you think the ACDC Project will help people in Beechboro/Ballajura?

Bec: I hope the ACDC Project will be able to empower people in Beechboro and Ballajura with resources that are available in the community to live the life that they want to live. I also hope that the ACDC Project will be able to support more funding for the wants of the community to live enriching lives.

Rebecca: I hope that the ACDC Project can help householders and their families in Beechboro and Ballajura to access current services available for mental health and social wellbeing supports.

If we can also identify areas that may need extra resources, this information can then empower the community to seek extra funding for the growth of projects and programs locally. This will ultimately enrich the experience of people living in Beechboro and Ballajura.
