MEET PALMERSTON PEOPLE CONNECTORS – Dilli, Tania & Darlene

Why did you want to be a People Connector with the ACDC Project?

Dilli: I wanted to work as a People Connector with the ACDC Project because it gives me an opportunity to connect with people in the community directly, hear their experiences, understand their issues, and make them aware of mental health and wellbeing services available in our community.

Tania: I have been living in Palmerston for just over 7 months now and it would be good to know what the community needs, and if those needs are being met.

Darlene: As an individual with lived mental health experience, I am acutely aware of the complexities and prevalence of mental health issues within our community. I feel this is compounded by the lack of community education around mental health and the lack of appropriate services available.

How have you found door-knocking in Palmerston so far?

Tania: Being able to connect people with the appropriate services to better meet their needs.

Darlene: One of the best things about being a People Connector is the opportunity to get out into the community, get some exercise, and spread awareness around mental health.
