MEET TOWNSVILLE PEOPLE CONNECTORS – Jared, Brayden & Emily

Read more what Emily has to say about the project in Townsville.

How do you think the ACDC Project will help people in Aitkenvale, Heatley and Rasmussen?

Emily: I am hopefully that this project will be able to identify the unmet needs within these areas and hopefully fix these issues such as householders being able to access public transport i.e., Translink-Bus.

What do you think are some of the main challenges facing the people of Townsville at the moment?

Emily: I believe there is a huge crime rate in Townsville and most people are scared to leave their homes, especially when it gets dark.

What are you most excited about being a People Connector?

Emily: I am most excited about being able to link people to services/community groups that they may not think exists in our city. Especially doing it, knowing people will benefit mentally and physically.

Why and how do you think the ACDC Project is different from other mental health and wellbeing projects?

Emily: Because we are actually checking up on people and seeing how their emotional and social wellbeing is. Bringing that awareness of Mental Health and the different types of mental health challenges that people may be facing but are unable to identify.
